Deploy to Galaxy

Learn how to deploy on Galaxy by setting up Push to Deploy. The easiest and fastest way of deploying your Meteor app.

Sign up for Meteor Accounts

You need a Meteor account in order to deploy your apps. If you don't have one yet, you can sign up here.

Deploy a new app

Start by going to your Meteor account on Galaxy. Then click on "Create New" > "Deploy App" on the top right corner.

Once there, you'll see this configuration page:

Click on the Git provider where is your project is located and install the our Git Application. We do support GitHub, Bitbucket and GitLab. An authentication popup from your Git provider show up. On this popup, you can choose the individual account or organization that you want to give us access to. You don't need to give access to all your repositories if you don't want to. Later you can go on Git provider and change your permissions to authorize more repositories.

After connecting to your Git provider, you'll automatically go to the second step. In the second step, you need to choose your account from the git provider and then choose the repository where the Meteor app you want to deploy is located.

Getting Started with APM

Learn how to start with Monti APM

This guide will help you get started with Monti APM, to better understand how your app behaves and identify areas for improvement.

Installation

Run meteor add montiapm:agent inside your Meteor project.
Once you have deployed your app, enable "Galaxy Professional" from the app settings page.

Migrate from Meteor APM

Your app cannot have both Meteor APM and Monti APM agents enabled at the same time.

This means that you'll need to remove the mdg:meteor-apm-agent package from your app.

Run meteor add montiapm:agent inside your Meteor project to install the Monti APM agent.
Run meteor remove mdg:meteor-apm-agent inside your Meteor project to remove the old Meteor APM agent.

Migrate from existing Monti APM configuration

In order to use our provided Monti APM app, you will need to remove any existing Monti APM configuration from your app.

To ensure that Monti APM will connect with our provided app, you will need to:

Ensure there's no "monti" settings in your Meteor settings file.
Ensuring you don't call Monti.connect() in your code.

Monitoring your app

After connecting your app to Monti APM following the steps above, your app will send information to Monti APM. Visit Galaxy 2 to find links to your Monti APM dashboard.

Learn how Galaxy bills per plan and container size

Flexible Payment Options

We offer four different plan levels to choose from, each suited to various use cases:

Free Plan
Essential
Professional
Enterprise

Deciding which plan best suits your needs will depend on the features available for each plan, as well as the container sizes and usage needed for your app. Your pricing varies with the plan selected and the quantity and size of containers used to run your app, pro-rated to the second. Note: Free accounts support up to 1 Tiny container per app.

All Galaxy accounts start on the Free Plan. Once you have an app deployed, your account will be charged based on your container size and plan selected on your Galaxy. You only pay for what you use. If you stop or delete all of your running apps, you will not be charged.

For all paid accounts, billing from the beginning to the end of the month will be billed at the beginning of the following month. If you stop or delete your app during the month, you’ll only be billed for your usage until the point when you stop or delete your app.

Tiny: 256MB RAM, 0.3 ECU. Essential: $9 / month. Professional: $18 / month

Learn how to configure an application on Galaxy.

Configure your domain name

The first thing you should do is verify that the deployment was successful. Check to see if the application is accessible by navigating to its URL. Then check the application logs in Galaxy at galaxy.meteor.com/app/<app_name>/logs to see if there are any errors that are affecting the deployment.

Once your application is successfully deployed, head on over to your Galaxy dashboard to configure your application by adding a custom domain name and enabling SSL encryption.

Add a domain in your application’s settings and point your DNS to:

galaxy-ingress.meteor.com for applications in the US East region.
eu-west-1.galaxy-ingress.meteor.com for applications in the EU West region.
ap-southeast-2.galaxy-ingress.meteor.com for applications in the Asia-Pacific region.
